We recently supported a job supplying a A-Frame REID Gantry for a project at a water treatment works in Cumbria! The project aimed to enhance the efficiency of lifting operations to provide safe access and exits to a number of manholes for workers in Cumbria.
Cumbria plays a special role in helping ensure its communities and those across the Northwest receive a reliable supply of high-quality drinking water and is home to some of the most beautiful parts of the country with its breath-taking fells and lakes, not least the iconic Windermere.
The Challenge
The water treatment works involved the handling of substantial equipment and machinery, including large pipes, valves, and filtration systems. As a critical infrastructure facility responsible for providing clean drinking water, safety and precision were of utmost importance. Any mishaps or errors during lifting operations could have severe consequences, including damage to equipment, delays in production, and potential risks to workers and the surrounding environment.
The Solution
LGH supplied a 2t Intermediate Manriding A-Frame REID Gantry and a 1t Electic Chain Hoist as materials needed to be lifted safely in and out of the manhole. Providing this equipment resulted in an effective solution that overcame the lifting challenges in the water treatment project, offering a higher lifting capacity and allowing safe and efficient handling of heavy equipment and machinery at the water treatment works. With its robust construction and precision controls, the gantry can facilitate the movement and installation of large pipes, valves, and filtration systems, streamlining the overall project timeline and allowing workers a safe space to enter when going down into the manholes.
By addressing the challenges of heavy lifting, limited space, and safety concerns, the implementation of an A-Frame gantry in the water treatment project in Cumbria offered an effective solution. The enhanced lifting capacity, customised design, and advanced safety measures improved the efficiency and productivity of lifting operations. Furthermore, the gantry's precision and control contributed to accurate positioning and installation of equipment, ensuring the successful completion of the project while maintaining safety standards.
