What we stock
Our electric chain hoist fleet covers 110V single-phase and 415V three-phase power supplies, with capacities from 0.25t to 3t. The 110V CM Lodestar range is the workhorse of the UK construction and maintenance sector, running from a standard site transformer with no need for a three-phase supply. Where duty cycles are heavier, or the lift is longer, our Yale CPE three-phase hoists step in.
Standard lift heights are in stock, and longer lift heights can be built to order through the hire desk. Beam trolleys, beam clamps and lifting accessories are available on the same order, so the whole below-the-hook assembly arrives together.
Choosing the right hoist
Three questions decide the specification. First, capacity: size the hoist against the working load limit of the load and any rigging below the hook, not the nominal weight alone. Second, power: 110V for general site work, 415V three-phase where you have a permanent supply and a higher duty cycle. Third, height of lift: measure from the hook in its top position to the lowest point the load needs to reach, and add a margin.
If the working environment is classified as potentially explosive, an electric hoist is the wrong tool. Use a pneumatic air chain hoist instead.

Electric chain hoist hire: common questions
Do I need a 110V or 415V electric chain hoist?
110V electric chain hoists are the standard for UK construction and maintenance work, running from a site transformer with no need for a permanent supply. 415V three phase suits heavier duty cycles and longer periods of continuous use where a fixed supply is available. If you are working on a typical construction site, 110V is almost always the right answer.
What capacity electric chain hoist do I need?
Size the hoist against the total weight below the hook, not just the load. That means the load plus any beam, slings, shackles and accessories in the rigging. If the figure sits close to a hoist's working load limit, move up a size. LGH will check the calculation with you before the hire goes out.
How do I work out the height of lift I need?
Measure from the hook in its highest position down to the lowest point the load has to reach, then add a margin. Standard heights of lift are held in stock and longer heights can be built to order, so tell the hire desk the figure when you enquire rather than after delivery.
Is the hoist certified, and what paperwork comes with it?
Every electric chain hoist LGH hires is tested, inspected and supplied with current certification. The documentation arrives with the equipment. If you need it in advance for a lift plan or a client submission, ask the hire desk when you place the order.
Can I use an electric chain hoist in a hazardous area?
No. If the working environment is classified as potentially explosive, use a pneumatic air chain hoist instead. Air hoists have no motor, windings or electrical controls, so there is no ignition source.
How quickly can you deliver an electric chain hoist?
Order before 2pm and standard stock is available for next working day delivery, Monday to Friday, anywhere in the UK. Orders for Monday delivery need to be placed by 2pm the previous Friday. Collection from your nearest depot is also available through the hire desk on 03704 247 247.
