(Our Team) Gordon Foster - National Account Manager
Posted in: LGH Team

LGH strengthens its UK sales team with the appointment of Gordon Foster as National Account Manager. Tasked with driving new business in North of the UK (Scotland to Stafford), Gordon will also contribute his expertise to the wider sales team.

We recently had the opportunity to sit down with Gordon for a Q&A session. Here is a glimpse of what we discussed:

WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO JOIN LGH AND TAKE UP THE BDM ROLE?

The motivation to return to LGH was straightforward. I spent seven great years here between 1999 and 2006, and the moment the opportunity came up, that old spark came straight back. After speaking with Chris, Andy and Antonia, the excitement only grew and when the offer was confirmed, it genuinely felt like coming home.

WHAT ARE YOUR CAREER ACHIEVEMENTS SO FAR?

A standout achievement was running a highly successful LGH depot in Teesside in the early 2000s. After the transition, I built a long and rewarding career with Speedy Hire, progressing through several roles before becoming National Account Director. From 2014 to 2025, I managed the Siemens PLC account nationally, a role that shaped much of my strategic and commercial experience.

WHAT INDUSTRIES HAVE YOU WORKED IN?

My entire career has been rooted in the hire industry, which has taken me across petrochemical, industrial and construction sectors, as well as the fastgrowing renewables market, particularly onshore and offshore wind.

WHAT EXPERIENCE ARE YOU BRINGING TO THE ROLE?

With 42 years in the hire industry, I bring experience from every level, from starting out as a driver to operating as an Account Director. That journey means I understand the pressures, responsibilities and realities of each role. I’ve spent years supporting bluechip clients and working with people from site teams right through to board level, and I’m proud of the relationships and trust built along the way.

WHAT ARE YOUR SHORT-TERM PLANS IN YOUR NEW ROLE?

My immediate focus is reconnecting with crane and lifting companies I’ve worked with over the years, and revisiting longstanding customers and contacts. Many of them have become friends over time, and those relationships matter. Alongside that, I’m committed to strengthening LGH’s presence and pushing the brand back to number one in the UK, which is the ultimate goal.

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO THE MOST?

I’m genuinely looking forward to not retiring. My conversation with Chris reignited my motivation completely, and being back with a team I respect and enjoy working with feels fantastic. I’m proud to be part of LGH again and excited for what’s ahead.
