Milestone on the North West Rocade

Milestone on the North West Rocade
Posted in: Case Studies

The North‑West Rocade of Bourges has taken a major step forward with the installation of two large metal structures above the Moulon. This phase forms part of a €16 million programme led by the Department of Cher, aimed at improving movement around Bourges by 2028. The placement of these structures marks a visible milestone in a project designed to reshape how the region moves.

Challenge:
Positioning two substantial steel assemblies over a watercourse required absolute control throughout the lift. The structures needed to be raised evenly across long spans, aligned with precision, and held stable while being manoeuvred into their final position.

With the project progressing on a tight schedule and under public visibility, the lifting operation had to be predictable, smooth, and free from any unplanned corrections.

Solution:
LGH supported the works with a JAGE250 jacking system configured to 19.2 m. The system provided the controlled elevation, stability, and fine movement needed to lift and position the structures exactly as required.

Its predictable performance allowed the project team to work with confidence, maintaining full control from the first movement to final placement.

Outcome:

Both metal structures were installed cleanly and on schedule, making a significant milestone to the North-West Rocade. The controlled lift helped maintain momentum on a project set to improve regional travel by 2028 and demonstrated how dependable lifting equipment supports safe, efficient progress on major infrastructure works.
