Brabo Maritime were tasked with an urgent overhaul of a 19-tonne Marine Loading Arm in the Port of Antwerp. The MLA had to be partially dismantled waterside using two crane pontoons before being transferred onto the BMS-003 work pontoon for maintenance. With limited time and a complex marine setup, the team needed certified lifting gear they could rely on.
Challenge
On a pontoon, nothing stands still. Limited space, platform movement and tough QHSE rules make controlled lifting essential. The MLA needed to be lifted, secured and positioned with precision during disassembly and again during reinstallation all while keeping the operation safe, stable and on schedule.
Solution
LGH supported the project with certified lifting equipment from our fleet, including manual chain hoists, slings and shackles used throughout the disassembly, transport and reinstallation phases. The chain hoists were well-suited to the marine setup, easy to rig on both pontoons and provided the reliable lifting support Brabo Maritime needed to carry out the work safely in a challenging environment.
Outcome
The lifting operations from removal to full reinstallation were completed safely and on time. The equipment provided a stable, dependable setup that allowed Brabo Maritime to work confidently despite the challenging marine environment. The MLA was lifted, moved and reinstalled without interruption, supported by strong collaboration across all involved.
