Hydraulic Cylinders
Hydraulic cylinder and lifting ram hire
LGH hires the Hi-Force range of hydraulic cylinders, also known as lifting rams or jacking cylinders, for controlled lifting, lowering, pushing and load transfer. Hiring gives you the exact cylinder configuration a lift plan calls for without committing capital to kit that may sit idle between projects, and every unit arrives tested and certified.
The range
Our fleet covers capacities upto 50t and is grouped by the job it does:
- General purpose cylinders, single and double acting, for straightforward lifting and jacking where access is not restricted.
- Low height cylinders, for working in tight openings beneath structures, plant and machinery where standard cylinder height will not fit.
- High tonnage cylinders, for supporting and positioning bridge segments, girders, precast units and other heavy structural elements during alignment.
- Hollow piston cylinders, where a rod, bar or tendon needs to pass through the centre of the cylinder for tensioning and pulling work.
- Aluminium cylinders, where the unit has to be carried and positioned by hand.
- Locknut cylinders, where a load needs to be mechanically held at height rather than relying on hydraulic pressure alone.
Single acting or double acting
Single acting cylinders extend under hydraulic pressure and retract under load or spring return. They are lighter, simpler and suit most straight lifting jobs. Double acting cylinders are powered in both directions, giving controlled retraction under load and faster cycle times, which matters on multi-point lifts and where the cylinder is working horizontally or inverted.
Complete the system
A cylinder on its own does not lift anything. Hydraulic pumps, hoses, gauges, gauge mounting blocks and flow control valves are all available on the same hire, and our compressive load cells let you monitor the load on each jacking point through the lift. For multi-point synchronised lifts, talk to us early so we can specify the pump and valve arrangement alongside the cylinders.
