William Parkinson - Internal Account Manager

William Parkinson - Internal Account Manager

We welcome and congratulate William Parkinson on his new role as Internal Account Manager.

William will be responsible for our customers in the Midlands region. Now in his first week, we conducted a Q&A to discuss his aspirations for his new role and his experience so far.

How long have you been working at LGH?

I began my career at LGH in October 2019, so coming up to 4 years! My first role in the business was within the IT team where I was involved in developing our systems. I was eager to learn more about other areas of the business, so in November 2021 I transitioned to an engineer role in the workshop. In the most recent months, I gained experience on the hire desk learning more about our customers and their needs.

What are your career achievements so far?

Whilst in the IT team I built an internal system for our sister company, Moorhouses' Brewery. It was great to work on a project of this scale from start to finish. I am most proud of my time in the workshop where I - alongside my colleagues - made efficiency improvements that were felt across the business.

What industries have you worked in?

Having spent a number of years in IT I have experience working in SEO at an advertising agency, as a backend programmer at a software company and as a developer within LGH. So advertising, IT, brewing and lifting!

What experience are you bringing to this role?

During my 12 months in the workshop I personlly fixed, maintained and tested all the fleet. This means I can support customers with product, technical and troubleshooting knowledge. Our customers need someone they can rely on, either with the equipment or just at a service point of view and I can offer that.

What are your short-term plans in your new role?

My first goal is to gain better understanding on how I can better serve our customers in the Midlands. I want to be the first point of contact for lifting, no matter how big or small the job.

What are you looking forward to the most?

I’m excited to start developing relationships across my area. On the hire desk, I started to form strong relationships with some of our clients but due to the nature of the role the interactions can be quite limited; you are focused on getting the kit from depot to site. It will be refreshing that I can focus on what I enjoyed the most on the hire desk, communication and relationship building.

In conclusion: Why LGH?

We are an engineering company built by engineers for engineers. It’s a serious business and you need people who understand the risks involved with heavy loads. Everyone at LGH, across all departments, understand that and these principles run to its core.

Being part of a quality team that believe in a quality product and service is what it’s all about.
